Dew and her friend Ket go to Chiang Mai to her grandmother's sister's funeral. While waiting for the bus to Bangkok she buys a tree to help fund a library at Saihawpitcha School. While she's leaving Dew bumps into Ton and her wallet falls with her bus ticket. When it was time to check for tickets Dew and Ket didn't have theirs so they were dropped off. Ton drives by and shows Dew her wallet and they go back to the bus station where they have to wait for six hours until another bus goes back to Bangkok. They visit Ton's workplace and get to know one another. Ton works as a horticulturist, he conducts research for plant propagation and cultivation and find the best way to grow the trees and take that information to help advise the locals. Dew and Ket work in an office with websites working with clients and as a programmer. He takes them to a scenery and Dew asks him about a tree which he calls an ancestral tree because that's all he has as family. When they go back to Bangkok Ket has a meeting with her online boyfriend and wants Dew to come with her to the bar to meet him but he never shows up. One night while working Dew receives a call from Ton and from there on he calls her everyday. Later Ket brings up the date again but Dew doesn't want to go because she's waiting for Ton's call. He calls Dew and tells her he's in Bangkok and they hang out. Before leaving Ton gives Dew a red rose and she tells him if it's destiny they'll meet again. It's late and Dew wonders where Ket is thinking she'll come home later Dew goes to sleep. In the morning Dew throws a pillow to Ket's bed but realizes she's not home yet. Dew thinks nothing of it and goes to work. The police arrive there and ask her to go identify Ket's body. After confirming it she goes home and listens to the voicemail Ket left for her to pick up her phone because the guy didn't turn out like what he said. He got mad and killed her. In rage Dew throws the phone and cries. She has no where to go because her family isn't in the country. She decides to stay with Ton in Chiang Mai. She blames herself for Ket's death and finds comfort in Ton. He washes her clothes, cooks, and helps take care of her. Not long after they get married and work together to help rebuild the school. They write emails back and forth while she's working in Chiang Mai. When Dew comes back her bodies tired so Ton helps wash her legs and she caress Ton. While working on a car Ton tries to find a screwdriver but finds a letter from a man to his lover. He reads the letter to Dew while the song "Jod Mai Rak" plays. Afterward while working Ton suddenly faints and finds out he has a brain tumor but doesn't tell Dew. Not long after she finds Ton sleeping by the trees and sleeping more often. One day she looks for him and sees that he has fainted and takes him to the hospital and finds out the truth about his illness. She helps nurse him but is called back to Bangkok to work but knows that Ton doesn't have much time left. After Ton dies she decides to leave with her sister for a while but picks up a letter in her mailbox. In the car she reads it and starts to cry because it's from Ton. He encourages her not to cry, more letter arrive and Dew waits for them. When she goes shopping for food the man who sold her the postcards sees her and she looks back at him. He then reveals that it was him who sent it to her upon Ton's request. He gives her the last letter which is a tape that Ton made of himself. The video consists a part of their wedding of him and Dew karaoking, while he was recording Dew calls and he hears her telling him she loves him. He cries back saying to not forget him and that he loves her. Dew hugs the t.v. and cries. She goes back to Ton's ancestral tree and hugs it. While cooking due pucks and is pregnant. The movie ends when she goes back to the tree and her son runs to her.There is another tree planted near Ton's tree, Tom.
Dew ([[Anne Thongprasom]]) is a young computer programmer who meets Ton ([[Attaporn Teemakorn]]) in [[Chiang Mai]] during her distant cousin's funeral. They immediately become attracted to each other and start to date each other over the phone.
 
 
 
Back in [[Bangkok]] on Valentine's Day, Dew refuses to accompany her best friend, Ked, to a blind date because she is anxiously waiting for Ton's phone call. The consequence of this breaks Dew's heart as her friend is murdered by the blind date.
 
 
 
Dew immediately leaves for Chiang Mai and finds comfort in Ton. The two start a serious relationship and marry soon after. However, their new-found happiness is cut short when Ton dies of a brain tumor. Dew is again left alone.  
 
 
 
Before leaving for Bangkok, she receives a mysterious letter, seemingly from her dead husband. As it turns out, Ton had written a series of letter prior to his death and arranged for them to be sent after his death to his widow. The letters help Dew through her grief. Synopsis/Review

Dew and her friend Ket go to Chiang Mai to her grandmother's sister's funeral. While waiting for the bus to Bangkok she buys a tree to help fund a library at Saihawpitcha School. The Letter was the last film produced by Duangkamol Limcharoen before she died on December 8, 2003, at age 39. Director Pa-oon Chantarasiri, making her first feature film, agreed to take on the project, as a favor to her producer-friend.

Anne Thongprasom won for Best Actress at the Thailand National Film Association Awards. The film also won for Best Original Song, "Mai Mee Chai Mai", by Chartchai Pongprapapan.
