About
Nadech Kugimiya was born on December 17, 1991 in Khon Kaen, Thailand. He is Thai and Austrian descent. He is the adopted child of Yoshio Kugimiya (his adoptive father) and Sudarat Kugimiya (his adoptive mother - also his biological aunt). His biological father is Austrian and his biological mother is Thai. His nickname "Barry" comes from his original nickname "Brand". He graduated from Rangsit University, Thailand with Bachelor Degree of Communication Arts, major in Film and Video. He is currently continuing his Master's degree.
He says he didn't mean to deceive anyone when he falsely portrayed himself as half Thai, half Japanese. Declaring he was unworried by the resulting fuss, he said that far from deceiving fans for his own sake, he really did it for his parents. "My foster father is Japanese. I told everyone I am half Thai, half Japanese to honour him," he said. He denied he felt stressed to be exposed as Thai-Austrian. "I meant to tell people, but the time had not yet arrived," he said.
He started his career as a model at the age of 17. He made his feature drama debut in a leading role in Ngao Rak Luang Jai as "Nawa Gamtornpuwanat" in 2010. He gained immense popularity after he starred in Duang Jai Akkanee or Akkanee's Heart as "Fai Akkanee Adisuan" and Game Rai Game Rak or Love Game Evil Game as "Saichon / Charles Makovich" alongside Urassaya Sperbund. He is also a member of the group called 4+1 Channel 3 Superstar with Mario Maurer, Prin Suparat, Pakorn Chatborirak, and Phupoom Pongpanu. He has an exclusive contract with Channel 3, Thailand. His manager is Suphachai Sriwichit.
He is one of the highest paid Thailand actors and endorsers as well as being called the "King of Presenters". He is also one of the most visible celebrities in the advertisement market. He has endorsed many major brands including Shopee, OPPO, 7-Eleven, Daikin, Air Asia, Shokubutsu and TrueMove H.
He is also one of the most decorated Thailand actors. He has received more than 130 awards from many major award institutions including Best Actor Award in Suphannahong National Film Awards, Mekhala Awards, Nataraja Awards and TV Gold Awards. He is also frequently appears on listings of the most popular and influential people in Thailand.
